    The book is finally out!

    We have been running case method workshops for The Case Centre for over a decade. Often, our participants—colleagues from other academic institutions and practitioners from around the globe—would ask questions to which we did not (yet) have answers. Even more frequently they had wonderful ideas or own experiences that were completely novel to us. We also studied many brilliant books, articles, blog posts, and videos dealing with the case study method in particular or participant-centered education in general.

    We would then frequently turn new ideas into slides, adding to a growing number of PowerPoint slides that we continue to use in our workshops. But PowerPoint is just not the ideal format to collect our ideas about case teaching and writing. We thus decided to write a book.

    At the same time we developed several individual exercises into two comprehensive workbooks that aim at guiding colleagues through the entire process of teaching a case-based session or course and to write an own case study for teaching purposes.

    We continued to deliver even more case method workshops and got even more wonderful ideas, which we then turned into even more slides. And quite often this would lead to fundamental changes in the flow of our presentation and the two processes that we have developed for case teaching and case writing.

    At times, we expected to never publish the book because of our continued interest in advancing the ideas, but also thanks to the generous financial and non-financial support by The Case Centre, we eventually arrived at a manuscript. The peer-review process, copyediting, typesetting and publishing process again took some time. We are, therefore, extremely happy to see the book finally published today.

    But at the same time we aim at adding further material – especially related to the use of AI for the case method. And for this purpose we will use this webpage. Here, we will describe ideas, observations, and experiences that didn’t make it into the book – and thus get ready for a possible second edition…
